Jannis Kounellis * 23 March 1936 in Piraeus; † 16 February 2017 in Rome. Greek artist, co-founder of the Arte Povera movement Internationally most important contemporary Greek artist. University of Fine Arts Athens, 1956 moved to Accademia di Belle Arti in Rome. He lived and worked in Rome until his death in 2017. His works have been exhibited in the world's most renowned art institutes and are among the most sought-after collectors' items.
