Egnatius Ydema (1876 - 1937) - Landschap met water en visser in bootje
Beautifully atmospheric painting by the Frisian artist Egnatius Ydema.
In impressionist tests he shows the landscape with a lot of depth. The ‘pompebladeren’ (the seven red lily leaf-shaped blades on the Frisian flag) in the foreground, the fence along the side and behind the farm. The calm of the fisherman in the boat. Painted with a lot of feeling.
The work is in excellent condition. It has recently been professionally cleaned. Scarcely present. The canvas is already more than 110 years old, but still in a good condition.
Signed at the bottom right 'E Ydema' and partly dated under the frame '1907' (see photo 4 and detail photo 5). This means that it is an early work by him.
Framed in original frame, with brown / gold accents; the frame is also in excellent condition.
It comes from a private collection and is carefully packaged and sent by registered post.
Egnatius Ydema was born on June 23, 1876 in Wymbritseradeel and died on July 19, 1937 in Voorburg. He lived and worked in Sneek until 1896, The Hague until 1925, then mainly in Stompwijk. Worked a lot in Friesland. He was initially a house painter, later entirely a painter. Formed himself, advice from W.B.Tholen. He painted and water coloured in particular the Frisian lakes, landscapes, water plains, wide canals with sailing boats, etc.
His work is exhibited in various museums.
Beautiful early work in top condition.
