M.C Escher - Lucht en Water

Beautiful original reproduction of the work ‘Lucht en Water’ by M.C. Escher from 1970. 'Lucht en Water I' is a regular tessellation: an image with geometrical figures that fill the field in congruent forms and rhythmic repetition without leaving emptiness. In the case of this woodcut the fish transform in the air where the birds fly. In the water the birds transform in fish. In the horizontal centre strip the birds and fish are equal. We associate flying with air, so for a black bird the four surrounding white fish represent the air in which it flies. Swimming reminds us of water, so the four black birds that surround a fish become the water in which it swims. Originally issued as woodcut in 1938. This is an original reproduction from 1970 released by Reprinter reproductions, Wezep Holland. Copyright 1970 M.C. Escher Foundation. Reproduction is in good condition, has two small cracks on the left, and slight discolouration at the edges (no problem when framed with a mat), the folds on the photos are framed no longer visible. Please see the photos for a good impression, they are part of the description Will be sent registered in a poster tube.
