Saab 96 2-stroke Short Nose - 1962

A great specimen of the Saab 96 2-stroke series. The so-called "Short Nose". Manufacturing year: January 1962 This car is part of the first production series; the Saab 96 with the 2-stroke engine was only produced from 1960 to 1963. And this one has the original 3-speed transmission. The car is equipped with a very rare dashboard which was supplied during a three-year-period only. The car has been completely restored and is in great condition. This car was made in Sweden and bought there in 1962 by the first Swedish owner (name, address and phone number are documented with the car). The car was sold in 2010 after 48 years (still in very good condition, photos available) to a Saab enthusiast from Hungary who restored the car from top to bottom, body off. An extensive (photo) report of this restoration is included. During the restoration, many parts were renewed, such as all base plates, wheel suspension, shock absorbers, complete brake system (including new brake drums, brake shoes, brake lines, break backing plate), exhaust, etc. The engine was still in such a perfect condition, that is was not refurbished. The 2-stroke is in great condition. Many parts have been replaced such as the water pump/alternator, radiator, power distributor, various hoses, clamps etc. The entire electrical system has been updated. The car has an original (!) heater (electric engine pre-heater) and a carburetor heater. Both very rare parts. The interior is also in absolute mint condition. The seats and rear seat have new upholstery: the original 3-piece fabric upholstery and padded plastic. The tyres are as new. The car is painted in the original colour, the same as when it was sold new in 1962. The car has never had a different colour and has never been repainted before. The painting was done very professionally during the restoration. The car is completely damage-free, no scratches or rust. The Saab drives particularly well and smooth. The car drives well in current traffic conditions. It shifts smoothly without any slack. The complete history is included with the car: - The original Swedish registration documents - The original Swedish license plates - Details of the first and only Swedish owner - The original instruction booklet (Instruktionsbok) is included, as well as the old, original workshop manual. - The purchase contract from 2010, but also the sale contract between the Hungarian owner and the current owner, the original Hungarian registration documents and Hungarian license plates are included. - Complete registration of the restoration. The Saab has a Hungarian registration. RDW (Dutch Vehicle Authority) inspection plus Dutch registration available without adjustments. No ‘tax on passenger cars and motorcycles’ (or ‘road tax’) is due and the Saab is completely tax-free in the Netherlands. The Hungarian periodic vehicle inspection runs until April 2018; the next one will fall under the Dutch Vehicle Authority. This vehicle can be viewed and/or picked up in Dalfsen, the Netherlands.
